Yes, completely, with nothing locked away. If anyone charged you for it, you were scammed. Get it only from uma-x.net or the UmamusumeX Discord.

A private server for Umamusume that runs on your own PC. The game itself is the real, unmodified Steam client; only where it connects changes. A control panel opens in your browser to run everything.

The Global game and the Japanese game, both on Steam. Both play in English; more languages are planned.

Windows 10 or 11, or Linux with the game running through Steam's Proton (Global). The game installed through Steam and started once. For Japan, see the Japan questions below.

Not for the server: it runs on your PC. The game still downloads its own updates and game data from the internet, and the Japanese game needs a Japan VPN when it starts.

Not on the official servers: while the redirect is on, the game talks only to your PC. But if the game makes a new account here, it then signs in with that one. UmamusumeX copies the game's own sign-in before Play, and Return to official servers offers to put it back; without a copy, use the game's Data Link on the official title screen.

UmamusumeX never talks to the official servers for you. To be safe, play with a spare Steam account that has no link to your real game data.

No. For Global, the game is pointed at your PC instead of the official servers. For Japan, a small plugin is put in only while the game runs, and taken out again when it closes.

Any of these: press Return to official servers on Home, double-click the Back to official servers desktop shortcut, or quit or close UmamusumeX. Windows asks for permission once. Return to official servers closes the game first; after the others, restart the game if it was open.

That's expected for a program that isn't signed by a public certificate authority. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

Yes, on your home network: turn on LAN mode in Settings › Launcher. Devices on your network can then reach the game server, each with their own account. Only do this on a network you trust. The control panel always stays reachable from your PC only.

It is a separate free Steam game that only the Japanese store offers. Connect a VPN to Japan, make a new Steam account while it is on, then install ウマ娘 プリティーダービー from the store and start it once. The Setup page walks through it step by step.

Your Japan VPN is off. Turn it on and start the game again. This comes from the game, not from UmamusumeX.

Yes, by default: menus, careers, skills and race commentary. You can turn the translation off on the Japan tile on Home.

Yes. The Japan server keeps its own accounts, saves and log. Settings, custom banners and custom rates are shared between the two.

In the Japan view the mods keep their own settings, apart from Global's. Archipelago and Derby Casino are Global only for now.

Its tile on Home says why, and its last lines are shown beside it. A busy port is skipped for the next free one; if none is free, close the program that holds them. Only one Japan server can use the same saves at a time.

Yes. Stop the Japan server, or close UmamusumeX: the game then starts exactly as it does without it. Remove Japan setup (with Steam closed) takes UmamusumeX out of the launch option.

Open Home and look at the checklist. A red line says what's wrong, and its Fix button repairs it. Usually the certificate isn't trusted yet (Fix, then answer Yes in Windows' dialog) or the redirect is off.

The game may still be pointed at your PC. Double-click the Back to official servers shortcut on your desktop, or open UmamusumeX and press Return to official servers. If UmamusumeX didn't close normally, it also offers to fix this the next time you sign in to Windows.

The game's data is usually older than the game itself, often right after a Steam update. Restart the game so it downloads the newest data. If it still hangs, play once on the official servers, then come back.

Career edits show from the next turn (moving the turn and Maintenance need the title screen). Event dates show after the game restarts; while the game is open they wait, marked Queued. Settings say when they apply under each one.

Open Admin › Running careers › Maintenance and press Fix it on Fix the career screen. Frozen on a story event? Use Clear stuck events instead. Then go back to the title screen in the game and press Continue.

Gifts land in the game's present box (the gift icon on the home screen): open it and tap Collect All. Whole-collection gifts skip the box; go back to the title screen to see them.

New events arrive with official game updates, and the game downloads newer data by itself. If an event still isn't there, play once on the official servers so the game updates its files.

The game still holds an account from the official servers. To play it here, allow such accounts in Settings › Accounts & security.

Reproduce the problem, press Export log at the top of the control panel, and attach the file when you ask on the Discord.

In the data folder shown at the bottom of the control panel. Settings › Data & backups exports everything as one file and restores automatic backups. Every admin edit takes a backup first.

When a new version is out, Home shows Update now. It downloads the new version, checks it, and restarts the panel on it. Restart the game afterwards if it was open.

Yes. Saves, settings and logs live in the data folder, not next to the program, so a newer version picks them up.

Settings › About › Uninstall UmamusumeX. It points the game back at the official servers, removes your PC's certificate, the sign-in safety net and the desktop shortcut, then deletes the program. Your saves are kept unless you tick "Also delete my saves".
